- Application specific sensor design
This fiber optic sensor for temperature monitoring applications is a distributed, multi-segment temperature sensor optimized for use in a high voltage environment. This sensor has been designed to work with Fiber Segment Interferometry (FSI) interrogators from Kistler to provide the information needed for thermal management and battery architecture optimization. The FSI sensors use a unique fiber containing a series of inscribed reflectors. Each pair of reflectors creates a measurement segment. Many segments in a single fiber can be measured simultaneously without blind spots. By accurately measuring temperature along the full length of the fiber, you are provided with more information than alternative temperature sensing technology. With their robust low-profile design, the fiber optic sensors can be easily integrated within a high voltage battery and withstand fluid cooling. In addition to battery temperature monitoring, they are an ideal solution for EMI sensitive environments, such as converters, inverters, capacitors, and electric motors.
