Triaxial miniature IEPE accelerometer: with weight of 0.9 grams ideal for vibration measurements on lightweight structures

KiVibe Miniature triaxial IEPE accelerometer

The perfect fit for vibration measurements on lightweight structures and in tight spaces

Trends toward miniaturization and lightweight construction in various industries, including aerospace, the automotive industry, and the electronics industry, are placing new demands on test scenarios such as vibration testing. Limited installation spaces and increasing complexity – due to the integration of additional functions into smaller spaces – as well as the reduced weight of the structures being tested require innovative testing solutions. It must be ensured that all required tests can be conducted without any loss of precision.

Sensor technology for vibration testing (vibration tests, structural tests, modal tests) must integrate seamlessly into compact installation spaces and – without unnecessarily adding mass to the test object – deliver high-precision, stable output signals.

Lightest triaxial miniature IEPE accelerometer
With the world’s lightest triaxial IEPE accelerometer KiVibe Miniature Kistler is enabling the fullfillment of new requirements for vibration measurement on lightweight, miniaturized structures.

Innovative miniaturized measurement technology – the world’s lightest miniature triaxial IEPE accelerometer

KiVibe Miniature the world’s lightest miniature triaxial IEPE accelerometer with a measuring range of 100 g (50 mV/g), 250 g (16.6 mV/g), 500 g (7.7 mV/g) and 1,000 g (3.6 mV/g) – featuring minimal mass and maximum sensitivity for its size. Specially developed microelectronics equipped with an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) from Kistler make it possible to implement this unique measuring range with an installation space of just 6 x 6 millimeters and a mass of only 0.9 grams including cable connector.

The miniature IEPE accelerometer contains in-house grown PiezoStar crystal with very low temperature sensitivity shift. This unique sensing element is combined with newly developed electronics to provide a broad frequency bandtwidth. Because of its inner structure the sensor is case isolated and therefore resilient to electromagnetic environment making it the ideal choice for vibration measurements close to electric motors or power supplies. The KiVibe Miniature is equipped with an integrated, flexible cable designed for reliable installation in tight spaces.
