Range Capacitor

What is a range capacitor?

The range capacitor plays a very decisive role in a charge amplifier. Switching between different built-in range capacitors adjusts the measuring range.

Why is a range capacitor important?

A great advantage of piezoelectric measurement technology consists in the large measuring range – up to several decades – that can be covered by a single sensor. In order to obtain the best possible low-noise measurement signal, the measuring range on the charge amplifier requires adjustment to the maximum load applied to the sensor. This adjustment enables a signal-to-noise ratio that allows to clearly distinguish between measurement signal and noise. Range capacitors in charge amplifiers facilitate switching.
