New measurement software for DAQ systems: KiStudio Lab is now more user friendly and versatile

Winterthur, January 2025 - The latest version of KiStudio Lab, Kistler’s tried-and-tested measurement software, now offers additional functions – but with no compromises on user experience. R&D users can combine KiStudio Lab with the KiDAQ universal data acquisition system or laboratory charge amplifiers in the LabAmp series to accomplish challenging measurement tasks with maximum efficiency. Also included in the package: jBEAM, Kistler’s fast and flexible data analysis software.

Optimal measuring chains depend on reliable sensors and suitable hardware – but that’s not all. Intuitive software to facilitate setup and ensure measurement efficiency plays an equally critical part. Kistler’s response: KiStudio Lab, the new measurement software that provides a state-of-the-art solution for its DAQ systems. KiStudio Lab gives users an even better experience when working with the KiDAQ universal data acquisition system and high-end measuring amplifiers in the LabAmp series – a solution that is truly fit for the future.

KiStudio Lab locates compatible data acquisition systems with a simple scan and connects them to create a time-synchronized measurement setup with Precision Time Protocol (PTP). Users can see the connected measurement devices in a graphical display, making it easy to adapt settings and configure the setup. Thanks to this new measurement software, users can choose their preferred graph types to visualize and monitor the measurement process in real time. In Review mode, data can be checked prior to export or, alternatively, processed automatically for further analysis. jBEAM Lab, Kistler’s specialized post-processing software, is included in the package with KiStudio Lab for this purpose – the key to quick and easy data analysis.

The new version of the measurement software KiStudio Lab from Kistler facilitates more complex measurement setups.

The new version of the KiStudio Lab measurement software from Kistler can now handle more complex measurement setups and offers more functions with an excellent user experience.

More scope for measurements and a better overview

“The new version of KiStudio Lab is based on much more powerful architecture that allows for larger measurement setups and provides a better live view of all measurement channels,” says Michael Lauffer, Team Lead, Product Management Electronics & Software at Kistler. When developing the new measurement software, the focus was primarily on an efficient, user-friendly experience in day-to-day work with sensors, measuring amplifiers and data acquisition systems. “Customers benefit from an intuitive tool that offers additional functions: it’s now possible to evaluate measurement data directly and easily with no need to switch to separate analysis software, for instance – and there’s also the option of automating repetitive measuring and analysis tasks together with jBEAM,” Lauffer points out. “By combining the new version of KiStudio Lab with Kistler’s established range of sensors, our customers can obtain their complete measuring chain from one single source – starting with the sensor, all the way through to comprehensive measurement data analysis.”

KiStudio Lab is available in two editions: Starter (suitable for up to 16 channels with >100 kSps), and Professional: the packages already include the jBEAM Lab data analysis software. Users of jBEAM can import data from many different file formats and then visualize and evaluate it using a wide range of algorithms and processes. Kistler is continuously developing the KiStudio Lab measurement software for its DAQ systems, for R&D as well as general measurement and testing applications. Going forward, customers will benefit not only from new functions but also – as a key advantage – application-specific editions.
